SOLC 17- An Unexpected Moment (Part 1)

An Unexpected Moment (part 1 of my story)

I wake up in the small round hovel we call home. I see the blinding light of the sun, shining across my face. The Window that resides above my headboard cracks open as I peek outside, look around our small square of land. It surrounds us, almost like a protective wall of white picket fence. I've only ever known it's confines, but my parents go out almost daily for their jobs.

Now, all I have left is the small area that I call home, the small place filled with 5 children, 3 grandchildren, 4 grandparents, and 17 aunts and uncles. We live happily together, although are lives are chaotic and disjointed. We are homeschooled, so we have never been off of our property.

Until one day, a small man came knocking at the door and asked if we were aware that "There are starving kids around the world", another one of those people who repeat the same message over and over and over, when we know they are really government propaganda. Everything is, these days. It's vote this! Choose that! We haven't been able to make our own choices since, since, I can't remember a time when we could... That is why we only live on this small area of land, where everyone has their own space, and everything is organized.

That day I woke up exhausted, drained of any potential energy I might have had due to the hectic-ness of day to day life. It seemed normal, but when I went outside to hang on the small fence, it happened. The world seemed to shift, and I just barely blacked out before I saw a sinister object...
